I am a sucker for animal prints. However, if I have to be 100% honest, I adore the black outfit and the contrast it creates with the blonde girl's hair. Lace is totally in. The feather-detail accesory is fab and I'm even liking the red flats

Quirky colour-blocking ❤

Quite a cool, laid back outfit with a bit of a rock'n'roll vibe . Oh and before I forget...Fringe bag ❤

Before I continue with the pictures from today, I want to clarify something about the controversy surrounding this Sunday that just passed and the 2 posts that outraged a few people. Maybe some of you are not aware that in 2008 I spent an year studying Public Relations at Bournemouth University. I dropped out and was a pretty mediocre student anyway, but I learnt a very important lesson. A lesson about Propaganda and how bad publicity can gain you more exposure than good publicity. Not an admirable way of gaining attention, but one that works. My intentions still remain good.

The second point I want to make is that this is not called “Gia’s blog.” I am not an authority. Just someone with an interesting idea, who is trying to make people aware of it so the quality of the blog improves. In a way, it’s your blog, not mine. You don’t have to like me or my ways of raising awareness, but you are encouraged to like or at least respect the cause behind this website here.

I’ll shut up now about this rather immature subject and move on to the important stuff:

You know what, I might have taken only two pictures today, but they are my favourite up to this moment. I like the structure, I like everything about these looks. The girls’ hairstyles are pretty fab too.

Thanks for the attention 🙂 and have a beautiful day (whatever is left of it at least).

Stay classy, Southampton.

Much love,

Gia

I thought they were pretty cute 🙂

If we exclude the flip flops, this is one very, very elegant and well structured outfit. She looks stunning anyway, with or without the flip flops.

Now if there is one photo that I truly like from today, it is this one. I love the harmony between their outfits and hello, we have our first male here 🙂

Love the trousers, the amazing purple flats and the fringe bag! And the probably unintentional colour blocking.

I want to apologise for this disappointing post. First of all, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, so to say. Second of all, I got into trouble with the WestQuay security guards since it is private property and what I am doing is not exactly legal. Third of all, there were so, so many people I wanted to photograph, but you know, it is not exactly easy to gather the courage to speak to complete strangers, especially when they are walking and you basically have to run to get a picture of them.

Whatever, I’ll just blame it on Friday 13th.

I promise I will do a better job next time.

Stay classy, Southampton.

Much love,

Gia

Loving the statement hat! Plus, the combo between girly florals and a baseball-iesque jacket totally works in this case.

Fringe bags are absolutely hot this season. And I have always had a weak spot for over-the-knee socks.

A rather interesting combo! 🙂 I adore monochromes and this is surely one bold way of employing them in your outfit.

There we go with the monochromes again! Such a laid back but cool outfit. Not to mention satchels are the shit this spring. The girl herself confessed to being severely hungover so I'd say she did a pretty good job hiding it 🙂

I don't even know where to start with this outfit. So I'll just say I love everything about it, but mainly the clash between nudes and those fab trousers

One word: cool.

These two ladies were hands down the most captivating pair in WestQuay this afternoon. I like how efortless but chic they manage to look 🙂 And, to be honest, I love the mint green bag.

Red trousers are huge this season. And her tribal/70s inspired scarf stole the show for me.

Such a casual, but well put together outfit! And, as I always say, I admire any lady that can totally pull of a hat.

Now this lady here found me particularly annoying! I found her outfit stunning. So in the end, we managed to cooperate, kind of 🙂

Much, much more photos to come! However, it’s past 5 p.m. on a Friday so I’ll save the good stuff for later and embrace life 🙂 In the meantime, please spread the word. Southampton might be an industrial/student city, but this does not mean it cannot be fabulous! Next time you go outside, ladies, put on your best day outfit and accesorize it in a way that it no longer is just a bunch of clothes put together, but shows off your personal, unique and beautiful style! There is finally somebody in town who will appreciate your effort (apart from all the drooling guys, of course).

Also, if you think you have what it takes to be present in this blog and have confidence in your style…or you have a friend with an interesting taste in clothes, feel free to email me on gia.atanasova@gmail.com or just leave a comment here. I promise I will pay attention and if you are convincing, I will photograph you. Best part is that it’s all for free, I gain no profit. It is all just a celebration of style. 🙂

Stay classy, Southampton.

Much love,

Animal prints might not be the most dominant trend this spring, but they are definitely here to stay. I've always had a soft spot for them anyway for they remind me of freedom, being wild and just generally rock'n'roll. Dressed down with a pale denim jacket and black boots and, most importantly, "joining forces" with that beautiful flower in her hair, it just all amounts to an unusual but show-stopping outfit that works well in.every.single.way.

Not gonna lie, I admire any girl who pulls off a hat. And hats are HUGE this spring. Plus, it's "stripes gallore" this season. It is a perfect, understated day outfit and to tell you a secret, I actually dragged the poor girl out of Topshop, so her simple choice of outerwear must have been captivating.

From the fabulous bow in her hair to the 60s inspired shift dress, it all works out beautifully. White is a dominant colour this season while colour-blocking is a dominant trend. All of this dressed down with her lovely brogues and spiced up with her floral bag...well it just makes up for one memorable, gorgeous outfit.

Last year, in March to be precise, I had an idea. An idea that, according to my immature views on life, could potentially revolutinalize  the rather dull and whatever-is-the-opposite-of-glamorous Southampton.

Unfortunately, that same life I had immature views on got in the way.

Enthusiasm left me.

The idea, however, stayed.

I had the vision of creating a blog that captures the beauty of all the fabulous, brave, unique ladies that walk through Southampton’s mediocrity with style. Understated. Overstated. Boho. Grunge. Contemporary. Retro. Whatever. The name never interested me. Just the mere existence of style.

Not even fashion. But style.

Why was I so eager to create such a thing? Well, I am mesmerized with beauty in the first place. Beauty of every kind, in every form. Simple or complicated. Highly detailed or minimalistic.  Structured or chaotic. Art or superficiality.

My second objective was that I wanted to encourage people to inject a dose of beauty in their everyday life. And not preserve being stylish for special occasions. There is nothing wrong with being fabulous at 8 a.m.,  on your way to work or uni. In fact, it is rather fascinating.

I have been called “deeply superficial” for my views. Then again, as a woman with strong opinions, I have been called pretty much every noun or adjective under the sun.

I just want to say the following thing about that deep superficiality. Newsflash: we don’t live in paradise. We occupy a boring world. We all live a trivial existence circulating around work, obligations, responsibility, reputation. Most of all – money. There are only two things that break or at least brighten the spiral. First thing is love. Second is beauty. And, to tell you a secret, one usually gets you the other.

Anyway. I’ll stop venting now.

I realize I am mad for what I am doing. Completely unreasonable, in fact. However, there was this quote: “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” Or in our case, woman.

If you look at this from another angle, I am actually a pioneer (note: I am not trying to flatter myself). I am a 5-foot-nothing girl who had the balls to walk outside and act upon a dream of hers with no support whatsover. To speak to complete strangers about it and rely on their help or vanity to achieve it. Not just anywhere, but in bloody Southampton too.

I will appreciate it if some of the people who are reading this offer support. I gain no profit from what I am doing. I am not trying to become someone or get something. All of the looks I photograph are anonymous too. It is all in the name of style.

I will begin by posting at least three looks each day. All the support I need from you is..to look fabulous. And be brave.

If you manage to be both, your photo will end up here too. Just in celebration of style.

[In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt if you tell your friends or enemies about the existence of this thingy here. Stay classy, Southampton. Much love, Gia xx]
